Community Outreach and Engagement

To foster community outreach and engagement, EPA is holding the following three initiatives:

National Environmental Justice Community Engagement Calls: The purpose of these calls is to inform the public about EPA's environmental justice work and enhance opportunities to maintain an open dialogue with environmental justice advocates. As the Biden-Harris Administration has placed environmental justice at the center of the national agenda, the Agency is relaunching these calls as a first step towards reestablishing meaningful and engaging participation with community groups and the public. This direct dialogue will strengthen the integration of EJ into all that we do as we pursue achieving meaningful improvements on the ground for communities.

Environmental Justice & Systemic Racism Speaker Series: The Environmental Justice and Systemic Racism Speaker Series will illustrate how addressing systemic racism is highly relevant to EPA’s mission. This series explores how understanding and addressing systemic racism and the roots of disproportionate environmental and public health impacts is key to integrating EJ in the policies and programs of EPA and other environmental agencies to achieve environmental protection for all people.

EJ Webinar Series for Houses of Worship and Communities

The purpose of this EJ webinar series is to help faith leaders and faith-based organizations address the environmental and human health issues in their facilities, on their lands, and in the communities within which they serve. EPA understands that faith leaders and faith-based organizations often serve as key leaders in vulnerable and underserved communities, and many work to address environmental justice concerns.  These webinars are open to all who are interested, particularly faith leaders, faith-based organizations, vulnerable and underserved communities’ representatives, other community leaders, and existing or potential vulnerable and underserved community partners.
