Evaluating EPA's Programs

The Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018, also known as the Evidence Act, guides evidence-building at EPA, including program evaluation and performance measurement.

EPA uses program evaluation to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and design of programs, and ultimately, to improve human health and environmental outcomes.

EPA uses performance measurement to monitor and report on progress and accomplishments, and to better understand when and how agency programs meet goals and objectives.
