Inflation Reduction Act	Environmental & Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program	Approximately $2 billion Competitive grants	Eligible entities as described in the statute: (1) Partnerships of multiple CBOs, and (2) partnerships between CBOs and Indian tribes, local governments, or institutions of higher education. EPA's new Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program (Community Change Grants) will invest approximately $2 billion dollars in Inflation Reduction Act funds in environmental and climate justice activities to benefit disadvantaged communities. Bipartisan Infrastructure Law	FY24 Clean School Bus Rebate Program	Up to $965 million Competitive rebates	Public school districts, public charter schools, government entities that provide bus service, eligible contractors that sell or finance clean school buses, nonprofit school transportation associations, Tribes.	September 26, 2024	January 9, 2025	Provides funding to replace diesel buses with electric and cleaner alternatives. Rebates to subsidize the purchase of a zero emission or clean school bus, eligible infrastructure, and other costs, including workforce training. See the for more details.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law	Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup Grants	$232 million	States, Territories, Local Government entities and non-profit organizations	September 3, 2024	November 14, 2024	To address sites contaminated by hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants (including hazardous substances co-mingled with petroleum) and petroleum.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law	Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling – Community Grants	$58 million Competitive grants	Political subdivisions of states and territories. EPA considers counties, cities, towns, parishes, and similar units of governments that have executive and legislative functions to be political subdivisions of states and territories.	September 16, 2024	December 20, 2024	To improve local post-consumer materials management programs, including municipal recycling and/or make improvements to local waste management systems.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law	Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling – Tribes and Intertribal Consortia and Grants	$20 million Competitive grants	Federally recognized Tribes, including Alaskan Native Villages as defined in Public Law 92-203, and former Indian reservations in Oklahoma, as determined by the Secretary of the Interior. Intertribal Consortia, consistent with the requirements in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Section 35.504(a) are also eligible to apply	September 16, 2024	March 14, 2025	To enable Tribes to make improvements to their recycling and waste management systems.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law	Recycling, Education and Outreach (REO) Grants	$39 million Competitive grants	This funding opportunity requires all applicants to submit coalition applications. The entities eligible to apply for this grant (either as lead applicant or as coalition member) are: U.S. States, including Washington, D.C. Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. Local governments. Indian Tribes. Native Hawaiian organizations, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Nonprofit organizations. Public-private partnerships.	September 16, 2024	December 20, 2024	To develop and implement a national consumer wasted food reduction campaign, expanding the market for and sales of compost, and increasing education and outreach to households on composting.
Inflation Reduction Act	Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) National Grants program	Competitive grants	A) a regional, state, local, or Tribal agency or port authority with jurisdiction over transportation or air quality; B) a nonprofit organization or institution that (i) represents or provides pollution reduction or educational services to persons or organizations that own or operate diesel fleets; or (ii) has, as its principal purpose, the promotion of transportation or air quality; and C) any private individual or entity that (i) is the owner of record of a diesel vehicle or fleet operated pursuant to a contract, license, or lease with a Federal department or agency or an entity described in (A); and (ii) meets such timely and appropriate requirements as the Administrator may establish for vehicle use and for notice to and approval by the Federal department or agency or entity described in (A) with respect to which the owner has entered into a contract, license, or lease as described in (C)(i). The Clean Air Act defines “state” to mean a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa and includes the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
