On August 16, 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law, providing funds for investment in numerous clean energy initiatives. Through the historic investments provided by IRA, EPA is improving the lives of millions of Americans by reducing pollution in neighborhoods where people live, work, play, and go to school. EPA's Investing in America page provides more information about IRA funding across EPA and other funding such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

EPA received $40 million in funding through Section 60115 of IRA to support EPA’s development of efficient, accurate, and timely permitting and environmental reviews. EPA is taking steps to hire and train staff, to improve public engagement and transparency, and to invest in information technology tools to improve its permitting processes. EPA is implementing each of these actions across its headquarters offices and regions.
