The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Natural Resources Canada are commemorating the 20th anniversary of the SmartWay Transport Partnership! We are concluding 2024 with a celebratory webinar for all Partners, Affiliates, and key stakeholders from the carrier freight, logistics management, manufacturing and retail sectors located in the U.S. and Canada.

Partnership successes and achievements of the last two decades will be remembered and honored with the support of key affiliates and policy makers. Other key celebratory webinar themes include the evolution of SmartWay and its’ transformative ability to meet industry and partner needs through collaboration and innovation. The session will also focus on greenhouse gas and policy developments and the future vision for SmartWay.

As the GHG reporting landscape continues to evolve, companies are working to navigate new rules and requirements at the state, federal and global level. To prepare for these new obligations, organizations are ramping up their capacity to not only better track and report their GHG emissions but also set goals and targets to decarbonize their operations. While SmartWay provides tools and guidance to help Partners improve their freight-specific efforts, EPA has other resources to support this work. EPA’s Center for Corporate and Climate Leadership serves as a resource center for organizations looking to expand their work in GHG measurement and management. The Center provides tools and guidance such as:

Information on GHG reduction programs and strategies

2024 SmartWay Online Shipper Tool Demonstration

Join us for a step-by-step demonstration of the new SmartWay Online Shipper Tool, which is a required annual submission for all SmartWay Shipper Partners to maintain their SmartWay membership. In addition to calculating a Shipper’s carbon footprint, it allows Shippers to see the relative performance rankings of their carriers in terms of environmental performance in CO₂, NO_X and PM emissions, thus allowing optimization of a Shipper’s environmental efficiency. The Shipper Tool is offered in an easy-to-use online format with options that allow Shippers to auto-populate much of their data from the previous year, and display data results in various useful formats.
