Example Government Climate Action Plans that Address Materials Management and Waste

New Plans

For additions, changes, or updates, please send new plans to us at SMMFood@epa.gov.

Please indicate which of the topics are covered in your plan by referring to the “Topics Covered” list below.

EPA maintains a list of Climate Action Plans from states, Tribes, and local governments with materials management and waste actions. The examples below are not comprehensive, but give you an idea of what you can replicate in your community.

For more information on Tribal Integrated Solid Waste Management Plans and how to develop them, please visit EPA’s IWMP website.

If you are looking for climate action measures in sectors other than waste and materials management, EPA also compiled a Quantified Climate Action Measures Directory. This directory presents information on quantified greenhouse gas emission reduction measures that cover the following sectors: Agriculture; Commercial and Residential Buildings; Electricity; Industry; Natural and Working Lands; Oil & Natural Gas Systems; Transportation; and Waste and Materials Management.

Filter, sort, or search the table below to find Climate Action Plans. To view all of the plans, click the Show All button.
