Targeted Brownfields Assessment Factsheets for Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada

Under EPA’s Targeted Brownfields Assessment program, EPA assists communities to assess potentially contaminated properties and safely facilitate their redevelopment. These fact sheets provide a sample of recent projects completed in EPA's Pacific Southwest (Region 9).

  • TBA Fact Sheet: Arizona Rural Properties-Hayden, AZ (pdf) (811.32 KB, September 2019)
    Five target properties in downtown Hayden, Arizona have operated as a laundromat, car wash, bar, movie theater, auto repair and gas station, and post office. Planned future reuse includes commercial and municipal buildings.

    Municipal facility in Winters, California houses a wastewater treatment facility and sewage water lift station. The redevelopment vision includes enhancements to the pedestrian trail, installation of solar panels, and potential creation of a community garden and public demonstration area.
  • TBA Fact Sheet: California Urban Property-Los Angeles, CA (pdf) (760.29 KB, April 2019)
    The five-story former jail building along the Los Angeles River has been vacant and long abandoned. Redevelopment will provide a public facility offering food services, hospitality, entertainment, a music venue, residency and green space.
  • TBA Fact Sheet: Hawaii Urban Infill Property-Honolulu, HI (pdf) (541.16 KB, October 2019)
    Located near the site a future light rail transit station, the property in Honolulu, Hawaii contains parking lots and remnant foundations from the former railway line and buildings. The planned civic center complex will serve the immediate community and State Capitol District.
  • TBA Fact Sheet: Nevada Rural Tribal Property-Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation, Nixon, NV (pdf) (185 KB, October 2019)
    The historic rock building on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation in Nevada has served as a school, residence and administrative offices. Redevelopment plans include either renovating or replacing the rock building for residential use or tribal offices.
