Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee (CHPAC)
The Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee (CHPAC) is a body of external researchers, academicians, health care providers, environmentalists, state and tribal government employees, and members of the public who advise EPA on regulations, research, and communications related to children's health. Members serve voluntarily and the CHPAC meets about two or three times per year to provide specific recommendations to the EPA administrator.

Authority
The legal authority for CHPAC is the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), 5 U.S.C. 10, CHPAC acts in the public interest and supports EPA in performing its duties and responsibilities under Executive Order 13045 of April 21, 1997 (62 FR 19885; April 23, 1997). CHPAC provides advice on topics such as air and water pollution regulations, chemical safety programs, risk assessment policies, and research, which reflect the wide ranging environmental issues which affect the health of children. While most attention is paid to domestic issues, CHPAC sometimes addresses global issues such as climate change.
