Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Webinar Series: Communities with Combined Sewers Adapting to a Changing Climate
EPA hosted a three-part webinar series on Communities with Combined Sewers Adapting to a Changing Climate in 2024. Changing climate conditions, such as changes in annual precipitation, storm intensity, storm surge, and/or sea level rise, are anticipated to impact the performance of many combined sewer systems and influence the volume and frequency of combined sewer overflows, sanitary sewer overflows, and basement backups. Several communities shared their stories on how they are impacted by and have adapted to changing climate conditions.
Climate Change Adaptation Resource Center (ARC-X) Searchable Case Studies for Climate Change Adaptation
Searchable Case Studies for Climate Change Adaptation helps local governments effectively deliver services to their communities even in changing climate conditions. Users can select areas of interest and can find information about the following:
- the risks posed by changing climate conditions;
- relevant adaptation strategies;
- case studies illustrating how other communities have successfully adapted to those risks and tools to replicate their successes; and
- EPA funding opportunities.
Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) – Adaptation Case Studies for Water Utilities
Many drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater water utilities across the United States are anticipating, planning, and preparing for changing climate conditions. Adaptation Case Studies for Water Utilities includes the area of interest (Example: sea level rise, drought, or green infrastructure), geographic region, or level of government.
