John Iiames, Ph.D.

John Iiames

John S. Iiames is a research biologist with expertise in environmental remote sensing and geospatial science. He works in the investigation of environmental indicators linked to environmental condition and human health, providing the modeling community with inputs required to support integrated, multidisciplinary exposure science research.

Current projects include assessing key variables that drive harmful algal bloom formation in freshwater systems – correlating these variables with algal bloom counts from satellite data. He also is an investigator examining linkages between wildfire severity and drinking water quality across the continental United States. One of Dr. Iiames strengths in presenting to the K-12 community is in sharing his less than productive start through his middle and high school years, yet turning that direction eventually into a very productive career in science.
