The History of EPA & Earth Day- The EPA Alumni Association is offering virtual presentations for high school and introductory college classes that provide insights into the environmental problems that the U.S faced in the 1950-60’s; how EPA, states, and other organizations addressed these issues; and current and emerging environmental challenges facing our planet. Former EPA employees speak on topics including origins of the environmental movement, how science informs policymaking, progress made in the last 50+ years, current challenges such as climate change and environmental justice, and air and water pollution. Volunteers work closely with teachers in advance to ensure an interactive session that addresses issues of interest to individual classes and curricula.
